Detailing is defined as a process to clean, rejuvenate and protect the various surfaces of a vehicle.

Cleaning is a process using water and chemicals in order to prepare the cleansed area for the rejuvenation process. The type of chemicals as well as the strength of the chemicals is determined by the type of surface being cleaned. The condition of the surface and the substance that needs to be removed.

Rejuvenating is a process to restore your vehicle back to or as close to the original condition. There are many levels and steps that are used for rejuvenation. All are determined by the customer’s expectation and condition of the vehicle or area being rejuvated. Protecting is a process used to protect the surfaces that were cleaned and rejuvenated. After the cleaning and rejuvenating process you must be sure the area has a product applied in order to protect your work. You must also protect your finished are from the outdoor elements such as: Sunlight, rain, dirt, tree sap, bird droppings, etc. Example would be protective waxes; paint sealants, protective dressings, leather conditioners, fabric and carpet stain protectant and other type of protectants.

How often should I detail my vehicle?
It is recommended to detail your vehicle at least once every 12,000 kilometers. The outer appearance is more important for resale or lease return than the engine is and you could be changing your oil every 5,000 to 8,000 kilometers.
What are swirl marks?
Swirl marks are the C like scratches you see in painted surfaces. They are result of miss use of professional polishing equipment or poor product selection. These generally occur when an individual tries to remove paint imperfections with the wrong product and or polishing equipment. The solution to this problem is a swirl remover to remove the actually C scratches that are in the painted surfaces, Instead of a polish. (Most polishes are filling in glazes not swirl removers).

Oxidation is the drying out and fading of a vehicles clear coat. This is cause by the lack of i.e. waxes or paint protection or sealant. The cure for this and or prevention for this are the regular polishing and waxing of your vehicles clear coat.

“Acid rain” is the common term for a complex process more appropriately referred to as acid deposition. It includes the deposition of acidic compounds onto the ground and onto surface waters when it rains (wet deposition), and at other times as well (dry deposition). The acid compounds include both acidic gases, such as sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and acidic particles, such as sulfate and nitrate compounds. Acid deposition is believed to have adversely affected lakes and forests in the northeastern United States, Canada, and Europe, and to have caused material damage as well. Being so prevalent on the east coast this is why proper vehicle paint protection is a must.
